Denkmal 2016. Modern life of cultural monuments
From November 10 to 12, 2016 in Leipzig, an international exhibition on the restoration, preservation of monuments and rehabilitation of historical buildings, Denkmal, was held with the participation of creative, political figures and business representatives.
As the most important business and information platform for the industry, the Denkmal project is carried out under the patronage of UNESCO and promotes activities for the preservation and use of historical monuments and the expansion of restoration resources in the field of preserving the culture of peoples. Within the framework of the exhibition, a thematic international scientific congress, various conferences, workshops, lectures, round tables, master classes are traditionally organized. This year particular attention was paid to a significant monument of Soviet architecture – VDNKh.
This year, the Russian delegation included the International Ballet Center. Let us remind you that the International Ballet Center occupies Pavilion No. 62 on the territory of VDNKh, where the stage of interior restoration with adaptation to a ballet school is in progress.
The main task of the speech was to draw attention to the preservation of cultural heritage by actively attracting investments and specific initiatives at the state level for the successful development of cultural projects in historical ensembles by private entrepreneurs..
As E.O. Kaburneeva noted in her speech: “In the age of IT technologies, culture must prove its right, responsibility and leadership in the education system. Art acts as a means of communication, a powerful mediator, carrying the principles of beauty and harmony. Through the prism of art, a person begins to perceive himself on the intellectual and sensual levels, learns to be not indifferent. Unfortunately, today the world is again faced with the barbaric ideology of destruction of cultural and artistic monuments. Such a large-scale project as the International Ballet Center and its cultural and educational activities are aimed at counteracting these pernicious tendencies. The historical status of Pavilion No. 62, its location and cultural significance coincide with the ideological meaning of the project. We are confident that this attitude and perception is especially characteristic of the Russian cultural code and deserves the targeted support of the state and individuals.”
435 exhibitors from 17 countries of the world took part in Denkmal 2016. Numerous stands provided information on the specifics of individual countries, regions and specific topics.
Mayor of Leipzig Burkhard Jung, Head of the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage Alexei Emelyanov, Consul General of Russia in Leipzig Vyacheslav Logutov, Director of the Leipzig Fair Markus Geisenberger, Deputy Head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations Igor Tkach, General Director of JSC Ekaterina Pronicheva and others were among the special guests.
An exhibition “Denkmal, Moscow” is scheduled for 2017, which will be held on the territory of VDNKh.
